Brooklyn Owen, formerly known as Seth Owen, is a Human Rights Campaign Ambassador, the CEO of Unbroken Horizons, and a motivational speaker, from Jacksonville, Florida.

Growing up queer in an ultra-conservative household posed several challenges for Brooklyn. After years of hostility and forced conversion therapy, Brooklyn was kicked-out of her home as a teen after a family member threatened to stone her to death while quoting a sermon. Nevertheless, she persisted, and graduated valedictorian of her class. all while working three jobs and suffering homelessness.

Brooklyn’s story gained international attention after a GoFundMe to support her tuition went viral, which allowed her to appear as a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Brooklyn was able to achieve her educational goals with the backing of teachers, the Jacksonville community, and kind supporters.

Since then, she has established the Unbroken Horizons Scholarship Foundation and continues to lift some of the financial burden for students in similar circumstances.
